Inspirational Message:
Matthew 2:1-8
1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem. 2 and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."... 2:11
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. Amen

2007 Gardening Tips

Here
are some tips to prepare your lawn and garden this month:
- Before bringing your Christmas tree into your home, gently shake it to make sure it is free of cats, squirrels or any other animal that may have found a safe haven in it on the tree lot. Also, check to make sure no insects are in your tree before you purchase it.
- Keep your Christmas tree well watered from the time it is brought home until it is discarded.
- Place Christmas trees away from fireplaces, radiators, heat vents and anything else that could dry the needles.
- Never use open flames on your Christmas tree - the fire hazard is too high.
- Don't keep houseplants warmer at night than during the day.
- Prune fruit trees and bushes.
- Try to avoid a cold, draughty window sill behind closed curtains at night.
- Gently tap the snow from evergreen shrubs to prevent the branches from breaking.
- Keep metal foil garlands or tinsel out of your Christmas light bulb sockets.
- Do not fertilize your live Christmas tree (these are trees that you plant into your yard after Christmas).
- Do not put spray artificial snow on your live Christmas tree - Remember, it needs to breathe. (again, this is for live trees with a root ball).
- During winter, your garden can become a local sanctuary for wildlife. Birds and foxes may come looking for food scraps. Evergreen shrubs and trees provide important cover.
- Put out any birdhouses you might have as added refuge for birds trying to keep warm.
- Stay off frozen grass!
- Provide houseplants with extra humidity. With heaters and dry air indoors, your plants will also dry out. Make sure to check them and water accordingly.
